Creepy Cinema 2015: Grab Bag

It’s finally October and the beginning of my favorite season. If you’re a long time follower of Ganda-Ganda, then you know that it’s time for Creepy Cinema!

For those of you that don’t know about Creepy Cinema, it’s a wonderful tradition that began in the Cruz household in 2012. Markus loves watching scary movies and unfortunately, I do not. Anything slightly suspenseful freaks me out. Since he truly enjoys them, I decided to compromise and devote the entire month of October just for watching horror films.

This year, due to unbearable work schedules, we’ve decided to reduce the amount of movies from 31 to 15. It’s sad for Markus but a little better for me. I wont be screaming in terror so much this year. We also decided on a theme, Grab Bag! We’ve chosen completely random movies that do not follow a specific topic. I’ll try and post my reviews once a week and in the meantime, check out Creepy Cinema from the past!

Words to live by my friends. Years ago when Markus and I lived in Florida, we used to watch heaps of Man vs Wild. We spent many afternoons following Bear Grylls and his adventures, hoping that one day we would do the same. One of my favorite episodes featured Iceland and we dreamed about visiting. I can't believe that years later we would have our own adventure in Iceland just like him!

Muir Woods | San Francisco, California

Earlier this year, Markus and I were lucky enough to group a work trip with a mini vacation in San Francisco. Markus never visited California and this was something that need to be remedied quickly. Thankfully our friends Wendy and John lived in the Bay Area and were nice enough to let us stay with them.

We spent most of our time exploring the Bay Area and the surrounding cities. When we tired of the hustle and bustle of city life, we escaped for a few hours to visit Muir Woods. The park was absolutely stunning and the Sequoias were incredible. I've never seen anything like it and was grateful for the little interlude into the woods.

Married for a Decade

I can't believe that Markus and I have been married for ten years today. Honestly, it doesn't feel like that long. I know it sounds cheesy, but it's the truth. Marriage isn't easy, but it's easier when you're married to your best friend. Markus has managed to make my life so fulfilling and giving me what I've always dreamed of as a girl, adventure.

When we first got married, Markus and I were poor twenty-somethings and never had the chance to have engagement photos taken. We both thought that this anniversary was the perfect time to finally have them done.  We found an amazing photographer, Mark Federighi. He was fantastic to work with and he couldn't have chosen a more beautiful place, the University of Chicago. We're both so pleased with our photos and are so happy to share them with you!

Green Planet Edition | Iceland

I promised myself that I would finish posting about

Japan

and begin San Francisco before I posted about Iceland. I took one look at these photos and couldn't help myself. Iceland is too beautiful and I had to share some of it's beauty. This can be a little amuse bouche to the other bajillion photos I will be posting some time in the future.

Since this year is our ten year wedding anniversary, we decided to travel to the one place we never thought we could afford, Iceland! We spent 14 glorious days driving the circumference of the island. We basically did everything our hearts desired and it was amazing. Iceland is definitely the most beautiful country we've ever been to and was a magical two weeks!
