Little John's Grave | Peak District, England

After we left Chatsworth House, we were on a mission. I was determined to find a specific place from a scene in

Pride and Prejudice

. There's a scene where Lizzy is standing on a peak in the middle of the Peak District. I looked it up and found out it was

Stanage Edge

and very close to Chatsworth House. I was determined to stand on the same edge as Lizzy because it's one of my favorite scenes.

While we were driving, we were using the GPS and it told us to drive up and into a small village full of hills. We finally reached the smallest road I've ever seen. We decided that it was the right way and continued onward. Once we reached the end, we quickly realized it was a dead end.

The tiny road led us to a small church and graveyard. We parked the car to see if we could figure out where we were or how to get to Stanage Edge. Sadly, we realized that we would have to hike about an hour or so to get there. After spending the entire day at Chatsworth, we were all knackered and decided to pass. I was sad, but it was a decision that had to be made. At least, I was able to go to

Pemberley

!

Ari and I decided to explore a bit and we walked around the graveyard. We kept seeing signs pointing to "Little John's grave". We thought this was interesting, so we followed the signs.

Surely, it couldn't be the grave of Little John from

Robin Hood

. When we finally reached the tombstone, we found that it was. We called the boys over and we all stood in awe. I'm not sure if it was really his grave, but it was still exciting. Despite not being able to go to Stanage Edge, we were still able to stumble upon something quite cool.

One of my favorite parts of the 2006 Pride and Prejudice film is when Lizzy Bennet walks through the marble statue room of Pemberley. I actually thought it was a room that they created for the movie, since there was a marble statue of Mr. Darcy. In actuality, it was the other way around, I think the producers saw the room and then created the statue.

The marble room was quite amazing. I could almost hear the song from the movie,

"Living Statues of Pemberley"

playing in the background. I've seen marble statues before, but never this close. I couldn't believe how realistic they looked. They looked like they would get up at any minute and put some clothes on. It was a nice way to end our tour of Chatsworth House.

Finally, we've reached the final part of Chatsworth House. Being able to spend the day here was a dream come true. I'm so thankful for my thoughtful husband and for our dear friends James and Ari. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have been able to walk the halls of "Pemberley".

After traipsing about the outside of Chatsworth House, we finally made it inside and it was gorgeous.

The inside was just as beautiful as the outside.

It was quite grand and majestic, everything you would expect an estate home to look like. It's amazing to think that Europe is filled with similar homes. Growing up in Florida, I always yearned for history like this.

Since Chatsworth House served as a filming location for Pride and Prejudice, there were many familiar parts of the house. I was very happy to walk around and see places I recognized from the movie. There were so many beautiful paintings that could rival any art museum. I was completely blown away by the amount of artwork and beautiful decor. It was amazing.

The gardens of Chatsworth House were more than I thought possible and just kept going. When you thought you had seen it all, there was more.  After seeing the typical English garden, there was an area of looming trees, rock formations and exotic flowers. It was like an expedition to another part of the world. It's amazing that someone could own such an elegant home, perfect manicured gardens and a vast forested area. The English nobility really live a charmed life.

It's like having my own

Mr. Darcy

. Maybe, I live a charmed life as well.

The size of Chatsworth House is overwhelming. There is so much to see and I was glad that spent the whole day there. I think Markus and I stopped to look at everything. I must've taken over 600 photos.

When we made it outside to the gardens, we quickly realized that it was turning into a mini photo shoot. Sorry for all the shameless photographs of Markus and I, but I couldn't help myself. It was the first time I've ever been in a garden like this. It was stunning and unlike anything I've ever seen before. I felt like I was in a British period drama. I was waiting for someone to pull me into the bushes and either kill me or ravish me.
